Personal Injury Care

So… You’re Fixing Your Car

Are You Getting Fixed?

Trauma can cause spinal misalignments in the body which can in turn distort your structure and irritate your nerves, bones, ligaments and discs. Any accident, no matter how minor, can create nerve-damaging misalignments. We can give you a spinal check-up to ensure that your spine is free from these health-compromising changes and to prevent any long-term damage.

The Doctors at East Kemper Chiropractic and Spaaaah have been specializing in auto accident injuries for many years and can answer any questions you may have concerning the personal injury process.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) What if my car received only minor damage?

Documented studies done by medical doctors show that damage done to the car bears little relation to the force applied to the spine. Passengers commonly suffer worse injuries compared to the car – including but not limited to whiplash.

2) If I need treatment for this injury, do I have to pay for it myself?

No, in Ohio your insurance policy may have ‘Med Pay.’ This coverage would cover the expenses incurred up to a certain amount. Our office can help you obtain this information.

3) I’ve been to my medical doctor, do I still need to see a chiropractor?

Yes, Chiropractors are trained to diagnose musculoskeletal biomechanics which are the cause of soft tissue damage. Medical doctors will give you pain meds which will help with the pain, but not the underlying cause of the problem.

Whiplash

Whiplash is the common name given to the injury where there is a hyperextention (increased backward motion) and hyperflexion (increased forward motion) of the neck. More simply put, the head is dramatically thrust forward and backward. Car accidents and falls can cause whiplash injuries.

Symptoms of whiplash include headaches, visual disturbance, stiffness of the neck, restriction of movement and shoulder, neck or arm pain. These symptoms may or may not be felt immediately. It is estimated that most whiplash injuries are not felt for several hours, days and in some cases even months following the accident.

We can assist in your recovery by correctly adjusting your neck and/or spine so it has the chance to heal properly. In addition, we can recommend physical therapy, stretching and strengthening exercises to put you back on the road to good health.

Kids and Car Accidents

Young children are most vulnerable in auto accidents. The weight of the head of a child makes the neck much more vulnerable to injury. They do not have much control of their head, so the small muscles in their neck are not stable to withstand fast movements which can cause serious spine and neck injuries. Children also have very flexible upper bodies and shoulders. They also may not be able to tell anyone that they are hurting.
